Louis Tomlinson is no stranger to talent competitions, in fact, his life dream came true because of one. Six years ago, on The X Factor stage, One Direction was formed and Louis alongside Harry, Niall, Liam, and Zayn were thrust into overnight superstardom. Louis returned to a talent competition stage in 2016, but this time, it was in a judge’s chair as he watched many hopeful contestants chasing their own dreams.
America’s Got Talent is in full swing, and July 20th was the last episode of the judge cuts with Louis there providing his expertise and being wowed by the acts as they took the stage. Louis’ concentration while watching each individual contestant that came to the stage proved that upon receiving the invitation to guest judge, he realized the seriousness of the honor, knowing that the fate of these contestants partially rested in his hands.
The crowd went absolutely wild when Louis walked across the stage and took his seat before saying this was even more incredible because of the golden buzzer, and he knew he could genuinely change someone’s life with it – he even looked a bit nervous!
The first act of the night was an acrobatic couple who blew the minds of the judges and the crowd and set a very high standard for the rest of the episode – we were so happy to seem them succeed. The second act was just as incredible, when 14-year-old sang his heart out and made us all cry. He’s got the passion to go all the way.
There were a number of dancing acts too which brought Louis back to One Direction and he talked about the band’s one rule – which was not to dance because they’re all terrible at it. Nostalgia hit a bit hard on that one and it made us miss the lads! There was no shortage of talent on the AGT stage tonight though with the acts that had rhythm and dedication.
In addition to a lot of dancers, there were of course, singers who took the stage a little bit – or a lot – in awe of Louis before they sang their hearts out in front of him and the rest of the judges.
Jayna Brown made us cry and the judges and audience jumped to their feet in applause – she blew absolutely everyone away, including Louis as he pressed the golden buzzer, changing her future in this competition.
Another act we were absolutely blown away with is the juggler who turns his entire existence into moving art as he performs. Viktor absolutely blows the minds of everyone and a lot of his passion and drive to continue comes from his brother, who passed away, that he carries with him.
Musicality took the stage as one of the most memorable performances of the season as they talked about why they were formed and what holds them together. Their stories were full of hope even in darkness which sent an inspiring message to viewers everywhere. Their performance channeled those emotions and they walked off stage feeling like they’d made a statement, and it’s not one that will soon be forgotten.
Unfortunately, all of the incredible talent from tonight didn’t move on as cuts had to be made and this was by far the hardest round, the ones who made it through to the live shows beginning next week were Jayna, SOS, Victoria,ThroWings, Outlawz, Viktor, and Musicality.
We loved seeing Louis on stage again and thought it was rather incredible that he made each act feel like they were important and valued – he brought his kind spirit to the AGT stage and it won’t soon be forgotten.
